There are several reasons why the expertise of Howard J. Schertzinger, Jr., M.D., will help broaden the already extensive scope of musculoskeletal care offered by Commonwealth Orthopaedic Centers. Among them are:
- the need for non-surgical spinal care for many patients
- the need to closely monitor osteoporosis and osteopenia in all genders
- the fact that pain management requires specialized knowledge.
Though new to the Commonwealth team, Dr. Schertzinger has cared for both adults and children for 22 years. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Cincinnati in 1984, then earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University. Post-graduate training in internal medicine and pediatrics at Duke University School of Medicine preceded a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of North Carolina.
He has directed Advanced Pain Solutions in West Chester for the past 13 years, providing musculoskeletal care with a focus on sports injuries, arthritis, spine disorders and osteoporosis. Dr. Schertzinger also serves as adjunct professor for The Ohio State University, offering training to fourth-year medical students.
