Dr. Shaw is certified as a sports medicine specialist by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is the former president of Reconstructive Orthopaedics where he has practiced orthopaedics since 2004. Dr. Shaw is a 1991 honors graduate of Duke University and a 1995 graduate of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at University Hospital of Cincinnati. Dr. Shaw served in the United States Army for four years, becoming Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Moncrief Army Community Hospital in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina.
Dr. Shaw has a special interest in surgery of the shoulder and hip arthroscopy. Areas of expertise include arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, arthroscopic capsule and labral repairs for shoulder instability, shoulder replacements and fractures of the shoulder. Dr. Shaw has become a community leader in hip arthroscopy. Additional training and dedication to the hip arthroscopy surgical techniques have allowed him to become proficient in treating femoral acetabular impingement (cam and pincer impingement) and labral tears of the hip. He performs the anterior interval total-hip replacement and total-knee arthroplasty surgery as well. His other specialty interests include arthroscopy of the knee, ankle, wrist and elbow, and general orthopaedics.
Dr. Shaw stays busy with many interests outside of orthopaedics. He plays ice hockey locally in the men’s league at Indian Hill Winter Club, and also enjoys downhill snow skiing, golf and skeet shooting. He likes exercise and running and has completed the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon. He and his wife have two children and as a family they participate in local charities and volunteer efforts.
