The decision to have a total joint replacement is usually made as a result of significant pain and limitations of activity, decreasing an individual's life. These surgeries are very successful, but require dedication to rehabilitation to achieve the greatest results.
Your physician may suggest seeing a physical therapist for one visit prior to your surgery. During this visit at Commonwealth Orthopaedic Centers, you will meet the therapist who will be with you for the weeks following your surgery. He or she will instruct you in exercises that will help before your surgery and answer any questions you may have about what to expect after surgery. During this visit, you will also be able to set up your appointment to return to therapy following surgery.
